Most sellers work out profit for the order that goes well. The order that comes back is what quietly eats the profit. This calculator shows both: the profit on a delivered order, and the average profit once a share of your orders is refused at the door.

How it works
- Total cost = product cost + delivery + fees + other costs.
- Profit on a delivered order = selling price − total cost.
- Average profit per order placed = (share delivered × profit on a delivered order) − (share refused × cost of one refused order).
- Break-even refusal share = profit on a delivered order ÷ (profit on a delivered order + cost of one refused order).
A worked example
Example numbers only: you sell at Rs 1,800. The product costs Rs 1,050, delivery Rs 280, fees Rs 60 and packaging Rs 30. Total cost is Rs 1,420 and the profit on a delivered order is Rs 380.
If 20 of every 100 orders are refused and each refused order costs you Rs 280, your average profit per order placed is about Rs 248, not Rs 380. If more than about 58 of every 100 were refused, you'd lose money on average.
Common questions
What is a refused order?
It's an order the customer won't accept at the door. The sale doesn't happen, but the delivery trip still had a cost.
What should I enter as the cost of a refused order?
Usually the delivery charge you pay for the trip, plus anything else you lose when the parcel comes back, such as packaging that can't be reused.
Does this include Shipify's fees?
No. You type in your own fees. The charges for an order on Shipify are shown inside the platform before you place it.
Is the calculator accurate?
The maths is exact for the numbers you enter. Your result is only as good as those numbers, so use real costs and your own refusal share from your records.
